On the way back from Chicago (on I-55 South) stopped by Pink Elephant Antiques. This place presents some great photo ops.

I have been wanting to stop by this place for a long time now – not for the antique mall, but for few photo shots ;)

I will plan on posting few more pictures from my visit to this place in the next few days.

  1. This photo is really cool, I haven’t seen this place. Did those people know you were taking their photo? Did you ask them? I’m just curious because I would probably be the one to wait for them to move – then the photo wouldn’t have the same look or feel to it. You really have an eye for capturing people shots. It looks great with them in it.

    • I am guessing folks there were aware of me taking pictures as I was there walking back and forth perfecting my composition ;) No I didn’t ask them if it was OK to have them in my picture – then again I wasn’t really picturing them but rather having them in my overall composition.

Before my 365 project, I was always wanting to avoid people in my composition but realized having them in the picture adds a “feel” to the shot – after seeing excellent street shots by Nikhil .

  2. Let me be the first to encourage you to always stop to get the shot that catches your eye (and as soon as you can do it). More often than not you end up with a great shot, as you did here. And quite often, if you don’t stop, you may never have another chance. I was driving down a street yesterday, there is a building with a gorgeously aged patina that I’ve wanted to stop and shoot for a couple years. Yesterday I saw it had been completely demolished. Always stop and take the photos you think you should.

  3. I hope you got an ice cream while you were there!

    What a fantastic shot!

  4. This reminds me of the opening sequence to Friday night lights… I think they had one of these ice cream shaped stands in it. :)

  5. Nice, nice, nice! The only thing missing is a late 50′s car parked somewhere in the shot. Very nice find!
