Ripe pomegranate ready to be consumed.

We found that, you don’t have to consume the pomegranate as soon as your buy it from the store but let it sit in a cool spot for about 2+ weeks until the rind begins to harden. It’s just about time for this to be split open ;)

I ended up shooting this macro for it’s texture and color. Used another pomegranate as a backdrop.

  1. Love the rich colors and the lighting. I like your lighting technique… don’t know how you do it but your light always seem just perfect.

    • It’s natural window lighting Emily. Our counter top is lit by a bay window and I shoot my static subjects in there. Most of these shots were long exposed by mounting camera on a tripod.

  2. This is wonderful! I love the pomegranate bokeh in the background, and the crisp detail of the pomegranate top in the foreground. And it is beautiful lighting. Fabulous work!

  3. Brilliant colour and texture coming after yesterday’s minimalistic shot. This shot only emphasizes how well natural light can work. It is amazing what can be done with strobes, but mastery of natural lighting is the main step (in my opinion) in becoming a great photographer.

  4. Agreed to all the previous comments, not much else to say but…excellent!

  5. A beautiful macro shot.

  6. splendid red tones, wonderful details

  7. This has such great texture and color!

  8. I like this one, so pretty

  9. amazing! Great colors and textures and brilliant using one for the background color and one for the subject!
