Today’s daily shoot assignment: It’s summer in the Northern Hemisphere. Make a photo of a cool, refreshing drink. Go for something creative.

When I think about refreshing drink, what comes to my mind is Peanut butter banana smoothie.

I picked this recipe couple of weeks ago from Cheap Healthy Good blog (readers comments) and I should admit it’s an addiction – in a good way. This smoothie is packed with nutrition (peanut butter, banana, nutella, soy milk, & wheat germ) and calories too. But I don’t feel hungry for few hours after enjoying this velvety smoothie ;)

For this shoot, used Sigma 150mm macro lens. Used couple of white foam boards to fill in dark areas and shot this under natural lighting from the windows.

  1. Yummy looking smoothie. I like the dof of the background products. And nice added touch with the little banana garnish.

  2. Fabulous job!! The drink looks delicious, and the bokeh is just fantastic! It practically gives you the recipe!

  3. Very nice. I like it… want to share the recipe? or perhaps a link to it?

    • Sure Mac.

      1 c. vanilla soy milk
      1 banana
      2 tbsp. peanut butter
      1 tbsp. Nutella
1 or 2 tbsp. wheat germ

Blend for about 30-45 sec in a blender..Enjoy! I think it’s about 800+ calories but it has lots of good stuff.
You can substitute wheat germ with oat bran or flax meal.

  4. just perfect wonderful composition and clever tilt

  5. Wow, I bet that drink has over 500 calories in it. For me, banana or peanut butter isn’t refreshing. But this sounds good. You did a great job of setting up the scene. Nice colors, framing and DoF.

  6. Love the bananas in the background.

  7. look so good. I may have to try this one.

  8. Oh my that looks good!
