That’s a cool looking straw on a water bottle that my daughter got on her friend’s birthday party – I think it was on her goody bag.
This evening I was wanting to try out my 50mm prime and had this shot against the bright light coming in through the window shade. Used spot metering to get the exposure and manually adjusted until I got the desired result. Since I shot this wide open, the background was totally out of focus.

It was shot using 50mm prime – not a macro.
very nice! great dof! you should have joined us is our flickr group when we shot exclusively with primes in may. we’ll do it again before the end of the year. just something to break up the monotony of the 365.

I love my 50mm 1.4 it is an amazing lens. Great composition and bokeh (blurred background) Nice job.
